| Product Overview
SynCold® PAO series products are synthetic polyalphaolefin (PAO) refrigeration lubricants specifically developed for commercial and industrial refrigeration and air‑conditioning compressors. Designed for compressor applications using ammonia as the refrigerant, these lubricants exhibit lower evaporation losses and longer service life compared with mineral‑based oils, while maintaining excellent low‑temperature fluidity. They are also suitable for hydrocarbon refrigerants such as propane or propylene, and can be used in CO2 systems, where they demonstrate a degree of miscibility with CO2.SynCold® PAO lubricant is used for standard factory filling in industrial refrigeration equipment, as well as for OEM retrofit applications. It is recommended to use SynCold® PAO in place of “mineral‑oil‑based or alkylbenzene‑based products,” particularly in ammonia systems and at cryogenic evaporation temperatures. Compared with conventional mineral oils, this product offers superior high‑ and low‑temperature performance and enhanced safety, as evidenced by its improved viscosity index, flash point, fire point, and pour point.
Test results for ammonia resistance (DIN 51538) indicate that SynCold® PAO exhibits excellent stability when used with R717 refrigerant. The refrigeration lubricant has no adverse effects on metals, rubbers, or other materials.
