| Product Overview
SynCold® PAG series products are synthetic polyalkylene glycol (PAG) refrigeration lubricants specifically developed for automotive, commercial, and industrial refrigeration and air‑conditioning compressors. The SynCold® PAG series represents a uniquely tailored blend of polyalkylene glycol and carefully selected additives. These lubricants exhibit excellent resistance to dilution by hydrocarbons and other refrigerant gases, a feature that is particularly advantageous in flooded screw compressors. Additional benefits include thermal stability, low ash content, a high viscosity index, shear stability, and outstanding lubricity. Most automotive and truck air-conditioning systems use compressors manufactured in Japan or the United States, along with R134a refrigerant. These compressors require synthetic polyalkylene glycol–based lubricants, such as SynCold® PAG 46 or SynCold® PAG 100. SynCold® PAG products exhibit excellent miscibility with R134a.
The SynCold® PAG150 product is particularly well suited for compressors operating with hydrocarbon refrigerants such as propane (R290) and propylene (R1270). Designed for screw-type compressors, it offers unique advantages in resisting dilution by hydrocarbons and compressed gases.
SynCold® PAG series products contain polar polyethylene glycol. The structure of polyethylene glycol imparts hygroscopic properties, which means that special care must be taken when handling these products: keep containers tightly sealed at all times, use nitrogen to blanket the refrigeration lubricant, and store drums in a dry indoor environment.
